The first museum in Portugal dedicated to Jewish heritage.
In 2005, the museum on Jewish heritage and identity was opened.
The exhibition focuses on the experience of Judaism in Belmonte, in the forms created by the hidden practices by fear. Prayers, tools and practices are the way to communicate the fundamental message: it is a museum of a living community, which acts, thinks and equates Judaism in the first person.
With an area for conferences and debates, the museum is not just a place to visit, but also a place for reflection. Numerous cultural and academic initiatives promote here the knowledge about the Jewish culture, heritage and religion.
