The twelfth stage in Porto and Northern Portugal. Heading towards Valença and taking advantage of the Roman military road, it is still possible to cross the existing Roman Bridge. Crossing through a more forested and agricultural area, following stone and dirt paths, you'll eventually reach Valença and its 5 km perimeter wall. Overlooking the Minho River, which serves as the connection to Galicia, Valença is the major departure point for pilgrims from Portugal to Santiago. Crossing the centuries-old international bridge marks the end of Portuguese territory, and the adventure continues in Galicia. This stage covers 17,980 meters, with medium difficulty and an elevation gain of 265 meters.
